Peg Bauernfeind resides on a backwater of the Mississippi River, ten minutes away from Whitewater Valley, with her old dog, Woody, who still has too much energy and runs like a coyote. Peg began a writing career to fill her retirement days and used the pen name M. A. Hugger.
She has published three young adult novels about a foster teen who comes to live on the Mississippi River: Danny Malloy and His Mississippi River Samurai; Danny Malloy Samurai Summer; and Danny Malloy Samurai on Pawselin Prairie. She co-authored A Vision Takes Flight with C. J. Jacobson recounting the twenty-five-year history of the National Eagle Center in Wabasha Minnesota.
